Creditcare Debt Advice Charity #1

Sadly, in 1997, one of our readers and in fact a good friend, succumb to the financial pressures during the 1990s recession.

This is one way of dealing with grief…

Our readers of Unique Property Bulletin helped make this possible.

We ran the charity for 10 years. PTSD and health issues led us to a difficult decision to close the charity.

The Charity Commissioner was very helpful and understanding.

Though in a relatively small community, folk in financial dire straits don’t tend to notice that a group of volunteers have ceased a charity effort. We found that even more folk came to the offices we had set aside for debt advice.

So the Creditcare debt advice association has continued, albeit as a not-for-profit association rather than a fully fledged charity.

This has led to some unusual fundraising efforts, such as one that a client described as a “bank heist.”

This Was Actually Very Legal & Proper

The purchase + renovation + assisting a new business start-up + resale was part of the High Street Rescue Initiative.

The fact a large chunk of money has kept the debt advice association going is a very helpful  consequence.
